Ever feel like a P.O.S? oh yeah and the winner is...

Feeling like a P.O.S Lately?
I know I am...

So last week I finally figured out what Pinterest is all about and I now must confess I have turned into a P.O.S....oh no you didn't think I was being a self hater did ya?  I mean...Pinterest Ob-Sessed....I can not stop pinning things, I can't even figure out the best way to categorize my pin boards so I have a bunch of boards and sometimes pin things 2 or 3 times because they apply to multiple pin boards.  One thing I LOVE about pinning things now is that I don't have to have 80 bazillion tabs open on 5 different windows on my desktop, so when hubby comes home and gets on the computer to look at one thing isn't like "holy crap you are crazy!" as he tries to downsize the million things I have open.  Now, if I see something I'm interested in....pin it and close it....no keeping tabs open to look at things later...pinterest does that for me! YAY!  Also so much easier than bookmarking a gazillion things too...because when I go through my bookmarks...I have to open up a bunch of stuff till I actually find what I'm looking for!  Last week I pinned a ton of staircase wall decor and design ideas...Some of my more full pinboards include Art Inspiration, Owls, The Home, Landscape and Garden, Things for my Wall,  and lots more!  You can check out all my boards and pins Here...

And now can I have a drum roll please......
Congratulations to Emilee
the winner of the E Custom Card Giveaway!
Thank You Erin for having me host this great giveaway I hope you love your card Emilee!
I numbered each comment on pieces of paper and drew it out of a WSU hat...how's that for random?

PS- Yay just found out I was featured on Sugar Bee Crafts today! Thank You!

Baby Boy Room Decor - Canvas Sign

When I Grow Up...
Baby Boy Art and Nursery Decor
Canvas Sign

I saw this adorable little sign on Uptown Country and knew I had to make one for my baby boys room...

I wanted mine to be the same, but I had this 6 x 12 inch canvas so changed the quote a bit to make if fit my sign better.   I will be posting a tutorial for this canvas sign so you can make your own diy nursery decor just like mine in a couple days. this week is a busy week and so I only have time to share this preview...so come back soon, the tutorial for this baby boy art should be up in the next couple of days!  Also check back tomorrow to see who won the E Custom Cards Giveaway and enter today if you haven't yet! (see top of sidebar)

If you would like to purchase this 6x12 inch gallery wrapped baby boy art, it is available in my etsy shop and is custom made to order in any color to match your nursery or little boys room.  This baby boy art would make a great gift for a father to be, new father, hand made baby shower gift, or a gift to welcome a new baby boy to the family, or just because it would look so cute in your boys' room.

Doll Bed Before After

Doll Bed
Before & After

Earlier this summer I picked up this little doll bed at a yard sale for 25 cents...

It must have been the lower part of a doll bunk bed because it just had those little dowel pieces sticking up on the end of each post...it also had that old yellow vinyl glued to a board for the mattress.

I found these Dowel toppers at hobby lobby for like $1.27 for a pack of 4 and stuck them on the tip of each post...but there was still a bit of a gap so I filled it in with caulking that my husband had left on the work bench from doing the windows.

Then I lightly sanded the doll bed, removed the vinyl and spray painted the bed white (MY FIRST SPRAY PAINT JOB!) and painted the mattress board light pink.

(Yeah I know the grass is too long, we need to buy a new lawn mower!)

I made the pillow with the fabric that WAS the lining of the curtains I used on the crib bumper pad (the shinyish slate blue fabric was a curtain panel on clearance and was just the fabric I had wanted!) The pink fabric was also just sitting in my stash.  I learned about these sweet little circle flowers with the burnt edges from Crystal over @ Wanna Be Balanced, they are really simple and I plan on making a lot more of these in the future!

Gluten Free "KFC" Popcorn Chicken

Gluten Free "KFC" Popcorn Chicken
aka  gluten free Chicken Nuggets

No there isn't really gluten free fried chicken at KFC (not that I know of!) but I have this recipe for mock "KFC" chicken seasoning in my family cookbook that my aunt put together one year for our family reunion so here it is, but made into gluten free chicken nuggets.  My daughter was very happy to have chicken nuggets once again, the first time in months.

Gluten Free "KFC" Chicken Seasoning Mix
1 Tbsp salt (I like kosher)
1 Cup gluten free all-purpose flour blend (like silvana's or gluten free cooking school or bob's red mill)
1 Tbsp pepper
2 Tbsp paprika
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 Tbsp mustard powder
1/2 Tbsp fresh thyme
1/2 Tbps basil
1/2 tsp oregano 1/3 Tbsp ginger

(I don't always have every single ingredient, that's fine, just use this as a base)

Take 2-3 boneless skinless chicken breasts and cut into bite size pieces

In a large frying pan, add about 1/2 inch oil and heat over medium-high.

Mix all ingredients together in medium size bowl.

In another medium size bowl, break two eggs and slightly beat them.

Place chicken pieces into bowl with slightly beaten eggs and toss to coat.

Using a fork, transfer chicken pieces to flour mixture and toss/stir to coat pieces evenly with seasoning.

Space the gluten free chicken nuggets around the frying pan/sauce pan in a single layer and cook till golden crisp on one side, then flip over...about 5-7 minutes total.  Adjust your temperature if you notice chicken nuggets are browning too fast or not cooking fast enough.  When you think they look done, pick out the largest one and cut open with a knife to make sure it is cooked all the way through (no pink!).  Work in batches.

Remove chicken nuggets from heat and place on paper towel lined cooling racks.

ENJOY!

Serve with russet potatoes cut up into french fries, coated lightly with oil and baked on parchment paper at 450 til crispy, then sprinkled with kosher salt and paprika.

Ps- These chicken nuggets make great left-overs...hubby loves to eat them cold out of the fridge the next day

Win it Wednesday - E Custom Card Giveaway!

Win it Wednesday
with
E Custom Cards

I'm excited to announce today an exciting giveaway to one of you lucky readers!  I recently met Erin, an awesome artist with a unique style who runs a funky custom card business and she has offered to give away one of her E Custom Cards (The E is for Erin) to one of you!  Check out some of her previous orders

Here is a little bit about her and what the giveaway includes:

Hey, I love social networking as much as the next girl, but getting a thousand happy birthday wishes on your wall just isn't the same as getting a real paper card in the mail. Getting a gift in the mail is exciting and special, especially when it's a card that is all about you! E Custom Cards are real paper cards, totally personalized, hand drawn, and one of a kind.

I started E Custom Cards in February 2011 soon after my son's first birthday. I had the same dream that everyone dreams: to do something I love, get paid for it, and be able to spend time with my family too... so I decided to make my dream come true. The real joy in making E Custom Cards is in delivering something truly special, fun, and personal to each of my customers - and the best part of my job is when someone tells me how much they loved getting their card in the mail!

                                                                                                         -Erin

THANKS ERIN!

Unicorn Canvas Art Knock Off from Rosenberry Rooms

Rosenberry Rooms Oopsey Daisy Knock Off
Unicorn Art for Girls Room

My new friend and neighbor redid her daughter's room this weekend while she was with her grandma to surprise her.  Her daughter really likes unicorns and so she found this unicorn art that she really liked on Rosenberry Rooms

I already had a 16 x 16 canvas on hand so I just had her pick out the tissue paper, cardstock and buttons she wanted me to use.  She also brought the funnies from the newspaper to use as the unicorn's mane, (her daughter loves to read the funnies) and the original unicorn artwork appears to be a page out of a phone book or something like that.  Here is my customized knock off version of the Rosenberry Room's Oopsey Daisy Fine Art for Kids Line.  I used yellow acrylic paint, modge podge, blue ink, glitter and hot glue for the buttons....

I added a bit of glitter here and there to bling it up a bit

I love the buttons she picked out for the Unicorn's Eyes

Check out the funnies....I love that feature

And when my 4 yo daughter saw me finishing this up, she begged to do one too.  We had these smaller canvases that she had previously painted on in her room that were just muddled paint colors so we added to that and together we made this one for her room and have another canvas she can't wait to make another one on...she had so much fun cutting pieces of paper and ribbons and painting on the modgepodge, dumping on the glitter...I helped very little...I got in trouble if I did any helping without her instruction! lol I actually really loved how she cut out diamonds with the blue paper and said they were stars and then made them sparkle with the glitter.....we haven't really done artwork together like this before and it was so fun to watch her mind work as it evolved.

Come back tomorrow to check out an awesome new giveaway!
