Giveaway Time!!!

Headband Giveaway

I got my Candace Creations Facebook page launched this weekend and said I would do a giveaway when it received 25 likes... when I woke up this morning I was at 26! yay!  I have be meaning to get that started for a long time but just haven't had time.

Anyways, to celebrate the occasion (OK I know 25 is not a ton but giveaways are fun and I haven't done one in a while!)  I'm going to be giving away one of my Chubby Cheeks Collection Headbands!  Here is a sneak peak at some of the items that are about to be posted in my Etsy shop! (YES I AM FINALLY OPENING IT!  haha haven't had time to do that either and I know I originally planned to open in in the fall last year!)

Here are some of the girls' headbands I made that fit size infant-child (some are extra stretchy and can fit up to adult size)

Now I'm going to be giving away the following headband to one lucky winner!
This one fits size infant-adult (a lil' tight though so if you have a bigger head probably won't fit)

Enter using Rafflecopter, there are LOTS of ways to win!

Turtleneck Makeover

I was at Target the other day and saw a whole bunch of turtlenecks on clearance in the girls section, but didn't really WANT to get my daughter any turtlenecks.  But for $1.78 a piece, I had an aha moment in the store and picked up a few.  This purple zebra one caught my eye in particular because lately J's favorite color is purple and I no one ever really gets her crazy prints like that so I thought she's be excited.  Then I also saw the purple velour skirt on clearance for $1.50 and the purple polk-a-dot pants for $1.00.  The next day I surprised her with the outfit and she couldn't believe it...it was so something she would put together (as you can tell, totally a 4 year old dressing herself style) And as I showed her the purple zebra turtleneck her eyes got huge and she was gasping when I proceeded to tell her, "I think we should cut the neck part off" and she gasped even louder and said "I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY THAT!!!" ..really???  well, either way wouldn't surprise me, she is always wanting me to alter things for her!

So anyways, here is how to have a little fun with a cheap turtleneck

stretch out the neck part a bit to make it into a comfy headband.

This is her favorite outfit right now, she is treasuring it and I'm cracking up a bit because the whole outfit was under $5 and is all mismatched clearance items but she is so happy that I know her "fashion sense" and surprised her with this. :P  She has so many cute and beautiful school and church clothes, it's nice for her to just have some random play clothes.

Awesome First Christmas Card

Soooo....is this not an awesome postcard or what? lol!  That is my adorable niece with her hottie mom and dad and don't you think that headband just makes the photo?  I mean look at it! It just adds to her cuteness!  ok ok...she's cute enough on her own but I was excited to see her wearing one of the headbands I made for her!  After making the satin burnt edge flowers (i don't know if there is an actual name for them but Crystal Escobar from wannabe told me how to do 'em) I encrusted the edges with matching glitter so make it a lil sparkly :)

Speaking of Crystal, (I blog stalk) she just had her baby girl and if you haven't yet, you should check out her shop it is full of the cutest things!

Sneak Peak at my inventory in progress!

Since I keep mentioning I'm getting ready for my first arts and craft fair, I thought I'd give a sneak peak at my works in progress...some finished...most not so finished...I'm a big procrastinator....I work better under pressure! haha!  A self induced curse sorta, my younger bro is the same way...:P  (love ya Joey!)

Anyways, today I will be assembling a lot of the headbands, everything is ready to go! I'd like to make some more ties, I have other fabrics I haven't gotten to yet but we'll see!  I have a love hate relationship with sewing due to my $50 brother sewing machine from walmart!  If I don't want to totally kill my motivation to sew things I'm going to have to upgrade to a better sewing machine in the near future!  I have made a lot of stuff with that sewing machine but man, every other seam the tension seems to magically change by itself, or the thread jams, breaks, and I might break my seam ripper before I break my machine!!! Anyways...ok that's not what I'm blogging about so onto some pics..

I think there are around 30 finished ties....I hope to get a few more done and some bow ties too. These neck ties have been like, almost a year in the making...well since the beg of this year when I whipped one up for Bronson's birthday pictures and have been wanting to make more.  These are more of a fall winter collection of fabrics....
 Appliqued scotty dog
 green houndstooth
 classic plaid
 brown houndstooth tie
 love yellow and grey
 rusty orange houndstooth tie
 neutral applique deer tie
applique terrier dog tie on a classic preppy navy blue fabric

black and grey skinny ties for the hipster babies/kids
I wasn't planning on doing headbands originally, but needed a break from my sewing machine and the ties and after my sister loved the headbands I sent for her baby girl, I started getting into it.  I knew how to make the rolled fabric flowers but Crystal from wannabebalanced got me addicted to making these flowers where you singe the edges.

I got the crochet headbands in the ribbon section on spools so I had to cut and sew them to make the headbands, there were smaller sections left over so I made a couple bracelets with the leftovers..I also have some brown crochet bands to sew and some of the brown stretchy ribbon lacey kind like that white in the picture.  I'll have to post some of the finished headbands when they are all done
Head bands sewn and ready to be decked out
Here are some of the flowers for the headbands and bracelets, i enjoyed embellishing some of the flower edges with glitter...adding a little bling!

I have more canvas art to make

yeah....i need to organize this room a bit (yes it's a disaster!)....That's why I keep the door closed.
