Scrappy Saturdays

Scrappy Saturdays
Weekend Linkup

Happy Saturday everyone and sorry for the delay in getting this up!  I try to have it start at midnight Friday night but my big 'lil bro is in town visiting and so I've been pretty preoccupied hanging out with him and showing him around and it's been fun.  My 4.5 year old was trying to get him to come watch Tangled with her and he was on Facebook writing a message to a cute girl and she was like "What is uncle Joey doing on the computer!" quite imatiently and I said "He's writing a message to a girl...(then teased) he doesn't have a girlfriend right now so he's trying to get one" and Jordan looks at me with one of those are you kidding me looks and says "Yes he DOES have a girlfriend!" and I said "Who?" and she puts her hand on her chest, leans her head forward at me quite obviously and in a "DUH!" type of response says "ME!!!!"  then she jumped up from the couch and went to the computer and kept repeating "Uncle Joey I'm your girlfriend right?" until he responded "yep" lol.

ANYWAYS, back to the link up, here are some of the highlights from last week,,,ya'll amaze me!

Turtleneck Makeover

I was at Target the other day and saw a whole bunch of turtlenecks on clearance in the girls section, but didn't really WANT to get my daughter any turtlenecks.  But for $1.78 a piece, I had an aha moment in the store and picked up a few.  This purple zebra one caught my eye in particular because lately J's favorite color is purple and I no one ever really gets her crazy prints like that so I thought she's be excited.  Then I also saw the purple velour skirt on clearance for $1.50 and the purple polk-a-dot pants for $1.00.  The next day I surprised her with the outfit and she couldn't believe it...it was so something she would put together (as you can tell, totally a 4 year old dressing herself style) And as I showed her the purple zebra turtleneck her eyes got huge and she was gasping when I proceeded to tell her, "I think we should cut the neck part off" and she gasped even louder and said "I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY THAT!!!" ..really???  well, either way wouldn't surprise me, she is always wanting me to alter things for her!

So anyways, here is how to have a little fun with a cheap turtleneck

stretch out the neck part a bit to make it into a comfy headband.

This is her favorite outfit right now, she is treasuring it and I'm cracking up a bit because the whole outfit was under $5 and is all mismatched clearance items but she is so happy that I know her "fashion sense" and surprised her with this. :P  She has so many cute and beautiful school and church clothes, it's nice for her to just have some random play clothes.

Scrappy Saturdays #8

Scrappy Saturdays Week 8
or should I say crappy Saturday because I blew it!!!

Hey you guys!  yeah....HEY YOU GUUUYYYS!  um, don't know why I was thinking about the Goonies, but anyways, sorry to anyone who came to link up earlier today and wasn't able to...I know. so annoying when Link Parties don't show up when they are supposed to! I had such a busy, tiring week I may have lost my mind a few times...like last night I was cleaning up after dinner and my husband asked why I threw all the good untouched chicken off my daughter's plate down the drain rather than put it in the fridge....um...as I was telling him "I didn't even think about it..."  I realized I was spraying water all over the countertop instead of in the sink where I was supposed to be spraying dishes....um....yeah.  that kind of gives you an idea of how my brain functioning has been this week.  So I spaced on the blog this weekend...oops!

ONTO THE FEATURES! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! And Inspire me so much each week with all your creativity and great ideas and I love seeing how everyone's projects turn out!

What beautiful freehand artwork!

I immediately fell in love with these Fabric Bookmarks!  These are so adorable, would make great gifts and I think anyone with a little bit of sewing scraps would be able to make quite a few of these babies!!!  Check out the tutorial at Quiver Full of Blessings.  I love the rolled rosettes on them.

Now this is one of the most original projects I've seen, using old magazines to make a magazine bowl! WOW to Saved by Love Creations, thanks for sharing, can't wait to see that video tutorial!

I can't go on without featuring one of the great seasonal projects linked up! I love these mummy vases! I want to make some for my mantle!  Looks like a quick and easy project....right up my alley!!!  Check them out at Freaking Craft.

I Love this patchwork pillow as a way to use up scraps of fabric! Check out the tutorial from vixenMade.
