Chocolate Sprinkle Pretzels - Gluten Free Snack for Kids

Chocolate Covered Gluten Free Pretzels

J loves doing anything in the kitchen with me, especially if involves something sweet...hmmm....she may be taking after my sweet tooth!  We have this whole foods grocery market we like to shop at with a big bulk foods section and she used to always like getting the yogurt covered pretzels but hasn't had them in a while now since she has been gluten free.  She started asking me about them and wanting me to pack them in her lunch, so I told her she could make her own covered pretzels and that she could make them any color she wanted!  That got her pretty excited, and of course she picked BLUE.  This was such a fun easy activity she could help with.  I used Wilton's White Candy Melts, melted them, added some blue Wilton food coloring and let her stir it up and watch the white melted chocolate turn blue.  Then all we did was put gluten free pretzels in the bowl of melted chocolate, flipping them over with a fork to cover both sides and then place on parchment paper.  After we were done, J picked out some sprinkles and had fun shaking the sprinkles all over the pretzels.  Now look how happy she is!!!

Flower Accessories

The other night I went to a moms night out event in which there were a variety of activities set up for moms to enjoy while visiting and enjoying some grown-up time with other moms.  My friend from Melonbelly took me to this event and here are some of the things we made while gabbing up a storm!  We made a bunch of rings even though there were other crafts...I think we both just love burning ourselves with hot glue guns.

Here is a fabric flower ring, hmmm...might need some trimming...

(we started the 2-tone trend at the event!)

Here I was just experimenting with the supplies and made another ring.  I glued scrap fabric around a button, and then glued another button on top.

Then we found some flowers from a scrapbooking table and decided to make real flower rings...

We also made big sunflower hair clips.  I always wondered where people found those cute flower headbands or flower hair clips for their babies and little girls...they MADE them and it's so EASY!

And Last but not least, we made handmade greeting cards.  I'm not a great scrapbooker, but for this they provided samples and all the supplies so it actually turned out!

Anyways, these were all super easy, very simple crafts that just kept our hands busy while doing some girl bonding!

COMING SOON...

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!!

Containing the Mess

So after unpacking my tempura paint for the no mess finger paint bag,
I thought J should have a chance to paint with real paints other than watercolors. I normally love watercolors for her because it's so easy to clean up but I ended up having some stuff handy to prevent a big mess. I used and old plastic plate with sections on it (the kind for picky eaters so the food doesn't touch) and this plastic lid that went with a disposable lasagna dish we received from one of the many kind people who brought us meals after the birth of our new little guy. I put a small cup of water in one section of the plate, then paint in the others and put her paper inside the plastic lid. It worked out great...no mess at all. I got to work in some bonus learning time too because I only gave her the primary colors, plus white and black...so when she started asking for other colors like green, orange and pink, I got to show her how red and white make pink, yellow and blue make green, etc. So we were both happy, she got to expand her knowledge of art mediums and I didn't have a big mess to clean up and I got to recycle the crappy old plastic plate I just knew I'd find a use for as well as the plastic lid since we couldn't save the foil bottom part that had ripped.
