I've been the worst friend, daughter, sister, crafter, blogger, cleaner, laundry doer, linky hostess...etc lately! BUT I am getting back on track! (Ok this last weekend I dropped the ball on the linky but I have a good reason for forgetting. I actually got to go OUT to dinner 3 nights with my husband through work and had a blast! Fancy Restaurants, super awesome food and getting to know some of the people my husband works with better was just great! I wasn't sure how I was going to do since I'm pretty much always in mommy world...but everyone was so fun and easy to talk to. and I owe BIG TIME thanks to those who helped watch the kids...you know who you are ;) )
ANYWAYS....back to the post...My friend who is the mom of this ADORABLE little boy was getting his birthday photos done and she asked if I could make a bow tie for him. It was great because I'd been wanting to sew something for a while and this was so cute and fun to make. And as you can see, the bow tie looked adorable on little Mr. GQ here.
I really enjoyed making this bow tie, along with when I whipped up this neck tie for my little guy for his first birthday photos and then made a bunch more for the craft fair in the fall. I have been debating putting neck ties and bow ties in the etsy shop. I thought it was a great idea until I realized other people were already doing it...I am still debating. I have a few left over from the craft fair so I should just list them. So far I have been slow to get items listed BUT I have been excited about baby boy my canvas sign has been doing well. If anyone is interested in ordering a bow tie or neck tie, just message me through here on my etsy shop and we can arrange a custom order.
These great photos were taken by a great family photographer named Dani Christensen you can view her work and schedule and appointment with her at http://www.danichristensen.com/
Here is a picture of me at my table with J near the end of the day, I sold most of the neckties, they did the best. The gal I was sharing a room with was a professional craft fair girl with pretty much a portable storefront and it was all bows and hairstuff and her display was just amazing....probably not the best placement for a simple looking table newbie craft fair person like me! lol! I'm excited the ties did so well and I did still sell the girl hair accessories, they just weren't moving as much as the ties. It was really fun and although I still have plenty of inventory left, It went well enough that I would do it again. I went into this thinking of it as an experiment and not forming any expectations so I am definitely happy with how it went! I also wanted to say thanks to all of my new customers and everyone who stopped by and took cards!
I haven't had a chance to get my store on etsy set up yet, sad to say I think I started my account for my shop over a year ago but then we had too much going on at the time to finish getting it set up. I will be listing many of these items and some samples of other products I can make soon. I can do custom orders of anything as well so if you saw something today or have something in mind, let me know and we can get that going.
My first sale of the day was a yellow version of the "When I grow up I want to be like my daddy" canvas sign. (you can see the blue on in the back corner of my table)

Well, today was the day, Baby B is officially 18 months old and becoming less and less a "baby" and finally got his first haircut. It was getting really long in the back and I found this cute little boy hairstyle that I love but B's hair was too thin, he didn't have quite enough, so maybe this will be his hairstyle down the road
I've been cutting my husbands hair for the past year, which was scary the first time, but hubby is too cheap to go get haircuts on a regular basis so would always end up with a mop head before finally going in for his quarterly haircut (and he has thick fast growing hair). He convinced me by saying he had no problem getting a short buzz cut if I messed it up really bad, but luckily I didn't screw it up. I did about the same as mastercuts or any of the other value hair places he would go to that would never be totally even or have one slightly weird spot. lol...now I've got it down and there are no weird spots...lol....although it takes like an hour to do it because I'm slow, cautious and perfectionist about it. Anyways....
Today was time for little B to get his first haircut. For his thin, fine, reddish blonde hair I picked up a pair of thinners (scissors with the teeth for blending).
During...
a lollipop and Baby Einstein came in pretty handy
I used the regular hair cutting scissors to trim things to the right length and shape, then used the thinners to blend everything and eliminate that blunt edge look that you get when taking scissors to fine light colored hair.
After...
fyi-he's very into coloring with markers so he often ends up with marker on his face...and chocolate!
I forgot about all his his cute eyebrow expressions because they were hidden by his hair!
I took like 60 pictures of him and trust me, it took a lot of restraint not to post my favorite 20...isn't it weird how we do that sometimes? I just start snapping and have no idea how many picture I'm actually taking!!! Hence the reason we have 2 external hardrives with all our pictures backed up...
I'm relieved it didn't turn out goofy looking, he jerked right when I made my first snip on his bangs and it went a little shorter than i intended and I started to feel panicky, but I think it turned out pretty decent for my first baby haircut :P No emergency visits to the professionals planned for tomorrow ;)
The nice thing about his letting his hair get so long was I got a nice lock of hair to save....wait...that's not weird is it? I swear I won't be saving the kids' teeth when they start falling out...although my husband says "yeah you say that now..." lol....well I CAN say I didn't save any umbilical cords and definitely did not save or eat my placenta! what you think that was random? I saw it on Bringing Home Baby four years ago!
If you are interesting in cutting your little boy's hair, and don't want to buzz it off, i found a video tutorial that shows similar techniques I use.
I saw this adorable little sign on Uptown Country and knew I had to make one for my baby boys room...
I wanted mine to be the same, but I had this 6 x 12 inch canvas so changed the quote a bit to make if fit my sign better. I will be posting a tutorial for this canvas sign so you can make your own diy nursery decor just like mine in a couple days. this week is a busy week and so I only have time to share this preview...so come back soon, the tutorial for this baby boy art should be up in the next couple of days! Also check back tomorrow to see who won the E Custom Cards Giveaway and enter today if you haven't yet! (see top of sidebar)
If you would like to purchase this 6x12 inch gallery wrapped baby boy art, it is available in my etsy shop and is custom made to order in any color to match your nursery or little boys room. This baby boy art would make a great gift for a father to be, new father, hand made baby shower gift, or a gift to welcome a new baby boy to the family, or just because it would look so cute in your boys' room.
