Also, This week we've turned a corner! I received a free copy of Copy Kids Eat Fruit and Vegetables DVD to review and it has made a HUGE impact on my kids, especially my 5 year old. The last 4 days, she has been begging my for fresh, raw veggies...not cut up or anything (except for cucumbers). If you know some kids who could use some inspiration to eat better, head on over and enter my current giveaway for a free Copy Kids DVD HERE.

The premise behind Copy Kids Eat Fruit and Vegetables is that young children are more willing to try new fruits and vegetables when they see another child eating them. I believe this idea is totally valid because I have witnessed this myself with my own kids. My older daughter always eats better when she's around her older cousins and my 2 year old son who shows little interest in sitting at the table and eating, will sit and eat a meal, even food he's consistently refused before, when we have interesting company over (i.e grandparents, aunts or uncles - but unfortunately non of them live close by). So I was very excited for the opportunity to review the Copy Kids DVD.
J wanted to make a movie of her eating her veggies just like "those kids"
I told my daughter I had a new movie to watch she had never seen before and didn't tell her the name of it. The first two comments she made as we watched the Copy Kids DVD were
"I want a pepper!" and "I want to copy her!"
While watching the Copy Kids DVD my 5 year old daughter ate a whole bell pepper and my 2 year old son was munching on bell pepper too...he kept spitting it out after a while, but he wanted to keep trying it because he thought it was fun to eat it while watching the kids on the DVD enjoy and have fun eating their vegetables. It's a good start considering before seeing this DVD he wouldn't even TRY bell pepper (and it's been offered plenty as we often have slices of raw bell pepper at dinner).
Then my daughter wanted to eat a bunch of cucumber followed by 3 enormous carrots. She got too full and couldn't finish all 3 but she ate most of 2. She planned on eating raw broccoli after the carrots but she got too full.
Here's what my kids were saying while watching Copy Kids Eat Fruit and Vegetables
"I WANT A PEPPER TOO!"
"I WANT TO COPY HER!" (she didn't know the name of the video was "copy kids")
"I want to copy those kids!"
"LOOK! He likes that!" (avocado)
"Can I eat those?"
"Today I'm going to eat ALL the vegetables that they're eating"
"LOOK!!! They LIKE them!"
"AJSDLKJEWRNJHAJjadfsajslfjasf!!!!!" (I couldn't understand her mouth was stuffed with peppers)
"I'm going to eat cucumbers after that (peppers) and then watch the cucumber movie when I eat cucumbers mom"
the shocking part was my finicky 2 year old grabbing slices of bell pepper and demanding "MORE MOO-EE!!! MORE MOO-EE!" and nibbling on the pepper (MOO-EE means Movie) as the movie had gone to the menu after the bell pepper segment had finished.
The Copy Kids DVD shows kids of various ages having fun and enjoying their food. It is cute and the sound effects and style of it reminds me a little of the Baby Einstein series, which kids really enjoy. The evening ended with my kids fighting over the bell pepper strips. As much as my kids enjoyed and were fascinated by this video and inspired to chow on some raw veggies, watching little children/toddlers eat is not all that appetizing to me. When the toddlers in the video were scarfing down avocado in HD on my big screen, it made me want to gag...despite that, overall the video is very cute, fun and makes my kids want to eat more fruits and vegetables so it's got two thumbs up in my book! Just make sure you have a selection of fruits and vegetables on hand before you put this on or your kids might be upset...they want to COPY THE KIDS while watching it!

Here is a super cute, simple and easy fathers day craft kids of any age can make for their dad...even babies can scribble on the paper. I had never heard of shrinky dinks until earlier this week when my friend had the girls make some on a playdate and sent us home with the scraps to try making more.
Pick up some shrinky dink paper
My friend found some at Hobby Lobby in the kids craft area in the back.
Preheat oven to 300 F
Draw a basic tie shape on the paper, or find a clipart drawing of a tie and print it out on the shrinky dink paper.
Have your child color in the tie with regular markers. Younger ones can just scribble..older ones can try and make a pattern...
Carefully cut out around the edges once it is done being colored and punch a hole near the top.
The colored tie in the middle used to be the size of the outlined tie
Place the tie on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper and put in oven
Set timer for 3 minutes (according to instructions but ours took longer)
watch it curl up and shrink, then it will slowly start to open back up. Once it is looking pretty flat, take it out of the oven and press it flat with an oven mitt. Let cool.
Attach neck tie keychain to key ring. I had to use a safety pin to attach it because I made my hole too small for the key ring to go through. You can do this too, or use string or something else thin if your hole comes out too small after it shrinks.
Now daddy with have a cute fathers day craft from the kids that will always be with him!

So this is a recent project I completed but took a while to share because I had to wait for my hubby to have time to install the fan. This white ceiling fan had gold hardware and used to be in the master bedroom, we updated our room with something we liked better but our daughter J said she thought the white fan was beautiful and wanted it in her room. She had an older uglier brown and gold ceiling fan light fixture in her room. So I got some Rust Oleum in Berry Pink GLOSS and quickly took the fan apart which was super easy and spray painted the hardware pink. Once it was installed and hanging up, I draped these jeweled garlands that I found in the wedding section at Hobby Lobby they were maybe $5 each or less with 50% off. For the beaded strands in the center of the chandelier fan, I used some jewelry wire to attach it to the bottom of the fan as you can see if you look closely. It took a long time to get this project fully complete...but the project itself was really easy and quick to do...just got drawn out because it didn't match the mounting hardware from the old fan and hubby didn't have time right away to hang it...but here it is...my daughter loves her pink chandelier fan! We have been turning her fan on at night and if we keep it on the low setting, the jewels on the chandelier don't jiggle around much at all...but on the 2nd and 3rd settings they begin to sway and make some noise so if you want to do this just keep that in mind and make sure you just use the fan on the low setting.
Stay tuned for more reveals from my little girls bedroom makeover! :)
Simply take your fan apart, keep track of where everything goes and then lay out on cardboard and paint with a glossy spray paint. When paint is completely dry, reassemble your fan.
Install ceiling fan (see owners manual instructions if needed)
Drape jeweled garlands over the lights and metal posts.
Using jewelry wire, attach beaded/jeweled strands to hand from the center of the fan.
ENJOY! SO CUTE AND GIRLY!
Spray paint $4
Jeweled garlands $10-15 roughly
Update and turn an old ceiling fan into a super cute girly chandelier fan for less than $20!!!
